Twitch NOW — Privacy Policy

Twitch NOW is a browser extension that shows which channels you follow on Twitch are live right now and notifies you when they go live. This policy explains what data the extension handles and how it is used. The short version: everything stays on your device, and nothing is ever sent to us or to any third party.

1. Who provides this extension

Twitch NOW is an independent extension. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Twitch Interactive, Inc. “Twitch” is a trademark of its respective owner.

2. Data the extension handles

Twitch NOW does not operate any server or backend. It talks directly to Twitch’s official API and stores everything locally in your browser using the standard extension storage area (chrome.storage.local). The following data is involved:

3. How your data is used

The access token is sent only to Twitch (api.twitch.tv and id.twitch.tv) to fetch the live status of channels you follow.
All sorting, filtering, searching, grouping, favorites and notifications are computed locally on your device from the cached data.
The token is used solely to provide the extension’s single purpose and nothing else.

4. What we do not do

We do not collect, receive, or have access to any of your data — there is no developer server.
We do not use analytics, tracking, advertising, or fingerprinting.
We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties.
We do not read your browsing history or the content of other websites.
We do not load or execute any remote code — all code ships inside the extension.

5. Permissions and why they are needed

Permission	Reason
`identity`	Runs Twitch’s official OAuth login so you can connect your account.
`storage`	Stores your token, preferences, and the cached live-channel list on your device.
`alarms`	Schedules the periodic background check for newly-live channels.
`notifications`	Shows a desktop notification when a followed channel goes live.
`offscreen`	Plays the optional go-live notification sound.
`api.twitch.tv`, `id.twitch.tv`	The only websites the extension contacts — Twitch’s API and login.

6. Data retention and deletion

All data is kept locally until you remove it. You can:

Use Settings → Twitch account → Disconnect to clear your token and account details (the extension also asks Twitch to revoke the token).
Remove the extension from your browser, which deletes all of its locally stored data.

7. Third-party services

The extension communicates only with Twitch. Your use of Twitch is governed by Twitch’s own Privacy Notice and Terms of Service.

8. Children’s privacy

Twitch NOW is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone. It stores no personal data off your device.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will be revised. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
